Has anyone out there had any experience with the Valiant Armoury line of swords? I am considering purchasing one of their katanas but wonder if a Cold Steel or Paul Chen would hold up longer. I have been training with an instructor in the japanese sword and would like a true cutter that will hold up to some abuse.

Paul Chen in my opinion makes good katanas. I have a 'practical plus' - not top of the line, but still an amazing sword for training. Have you handled a CS katana? The balance is all wrong...

I say you should personally inspect a katana before you buy it.

Being an idiot one day, I swung my practical plus katana in my bedroom. I had finished oiling it and without thinking I gave it a very hard swing, which clipped a ceramic mug on a table, near the tip of the blade... The sword actually cut into the mug and cracked it up, and there was only a tiny little chip on the sword - its only noticeable from close inspection. The part that hit the mug (about 1 cm wide) is still sharp enough to cut  ..Remember, ceramic is hard stuff.
So she’s tough all right.
