I asked a few people and then i talked to a guy i asked about glue so i went ahead and tried to glue my diamond wood handles on and pin them with 3 min epoxy. What a f __ kin night mare . I will not use anything less than 6 min epoxy and ill try to find 20 min but I havent found any . So this is what happened I had the holes drilled all perfect 2 pin and 1 lanyard hole so i had everything ready . I mix the epoxy tapping hammer ready clamp ready i mix the glue spread it on both pieces line drive the pins through the one side and thropugh the steel then tapp the lanyard tube into place then the next pin and that was all she wrote the F__kin epoxy set and i couldnt get the last pin in so the gap would close leaving a 1/64 gap on the last scale . I was mad because i spent alot of time and effort up to that point. I took a sharp chizzle and chizzled off the handle smashing it to pieces to say the least then I was able to remove the other side in good shape but didnt have another piece big enough to work to retry . Will devcon 6 min epoxy give me enough time to do what i need to do pin and clamp. Please let me know im having a tuff time finding 20 min epoxy.I was using 3 min I stirred it for 1 min and worked on it for 1 and 40 seconds and i was toast. kellyw

I don't know if Golfsmith has stores in Canada, but their shafting epoxy gives lots and lots of working time. It's also inexpensive, with the only downside being it's black color might be an issue in certain circumstances.

I have some Devcon 2 Ton that has worked OK too, but the last time I used it it set up within about 5 minutes and I have no idea why. I was just barely able to get the scales on in time with no visible problems. It's been open for a while, but not that long. The day I used it, I brought it in from a cool garage (~50F) into the house (~65F) and used it pretty quickly, but the cool temps ought to extend the working time in my mind. Haven't used it since then.

devcon 2 ton clear has a 30 min. set up time with a 16 hr. cure time . The longer the cure time the stronger the bond .

I thought the last decon 2 ton I bought was a 60 minute. Either way, more than enough time. It was around $4 at wallyworld. But having said that, it seems to gum up a bit while buffing so I'm not using it anymore.

I use the 20 min epoxy from pop's or USA knifemaker. You've got about 10 minutes or more of real working time before it starts to thicken.

I've been usiong Brownells "Acra Weld" with good results... Never had it cure too early for me, so I'd say it's at least 15-20 minutes... kinda pricey though.

Never heard of three minute epoxy. I use 5 min and come close sometimes.
Try dry assembling the whole mess and then double the time it took.
Take care

I use a 60 minute epoxy from locktite - E60H - I buy it at Acklands Grainger. A little pricey to start approx. $50, because you have to buy the dispensing gun and mixing nozzles (10 packs) but it is well worht it. It works like a miniature caulking gun mixing in the nozzles as you squeeze the trigger. It was recommended by the loktite rep. I spoke with at work one day after explaining what I was looking for. Awesome stuff with plenty of time to fix any misalignment issues you may have during assembly. :D If you are interested I can get you the catalogue number etc.

thecivilman i was at fastenall s today they showed me the loctite epoxy system it probably is good but the gun here is 80 bucks and the glue is 20 a tube i wont pay for a name i went to peavey mart and bought there super epoxy im testing it now they say 15 min work time but its been an hour and still workable says 24 hours to cure. then i bought some 6 hour epoy at the dollar store lol Ill bet the dollar store stuff is good .

hellgap - i have dealt with fastenal several times over the years and gotta say... not my favorite. crazy price they gave you. as i said, it cost me approx $50 to get set up which included the gun, pack of ten mixing nozzles, (which are cheap to buy) and the epoxy. i set up to do as much epoxy-ing as possible at once so i only use one nozzle. now all i have to buy is the epoxy which yields about 5 to 6 knives per tube.
i would be curious to hear how the dollar store performs. never know huh? good luck.
...by the way i am now living in Prince George BC but moved here from atikokan in northwestern ON. :) as with moose jaw, atikokan is very cold with lots of snow.:grumpy:
