Value Hard Use Knife

The specs you mentioned scream endura.... Under $60, FRN, and seems to be the size you are looking for. The ffg version's tip is probably too thin, but there is the old saber ground endura.

I disagree based upon my useage of my Spyderco Spyderhawk, which is the same handle and construction as the Endura with a different blade. I've also used my buddy's Endura when I was interested in possibly buying one. They're great knives but I wouldn't consider them for what most would deem as hard use.

The new Cold Steel knives with the Tri-Ad lock is your best bang for the buck and based upon my usage can definitely, definitely handle hard use. There are more brands out there but they'll be considerably more $.

+1 on the American Lawman. This was one knife that really surprised me in a good way. in the collection for me, but one I would put to hard use without an extra thought

I work on a ranch most days of the week and need a knife, that also works as an edc. Give me your opinions. Under $60, Under 4 inches, Frn would be nice, no frame lock. Any reply's welcome.

What kinds of things are you going to be doing with your folding knife?

Someone mentioned a Byrd, I got one it works good.. GREAT for the money

On the ranch,800acres beef cattle, farmings, logging our own timber. my choice for hard work and everyday is a Kershaw Blur w/partial serrarations. I know ou said no liner locks but it is thin in the pocket, I can open it with one hand, assisted opener close it with one hand with the liner lock, press the lock with m thumb and fold it closed on my thigh. I have carried it for 6 years and the only thing is the clip is gone. even in winter time feeding hay bales with gloves on it is good for me and if I have to go to town or the city it is handy for me and no sheep are bleating at me.

Mora's may be good for you at 10 to 20 dollars, not out to much money if you plant one (loose) here or there.

Big +1 on the pocket bushman it's a grate knife and if you loose it it's cheap to replace. I worked on a ranch for about a year and lost two knives. So an inexpensive cs would be a grate idea.

i used and abused an endura 4 for 3-4 months everyday when i was working in construction, i was impressed with how durable and strong it was. i had several enduras, and one of them had some play which i didnt like so i used it as a beater knife at work and i cut a lot of stuff i normally wouldnt cut with a knife, and the knife never failed me. to be honest, its still pretty sharp and i never even sharpened it once! i have a lot of faith in the endura, and a lot of respect for it as well. i feel its one of the best all around knives ever made, every knife enthusiast should own at least 3 or 4.
