You need to have a Gold or higher paid membership to ask value or sell knives. There is a stickie at the top of General Knife Discussion addressing this.
This is to avoid back door sales(sales by a non paid member using a value ? to gain interest for a sale)

You need a gold membership or higher, but it's not a money hungry thing.
There are appraisal websites which cost money, and moderators don't want people coming here instead for the sole purpose of getting knife apprasials for free and not contributing to discussions about knives.

This is a great place to discuss and learn about knives if you wanna stick around, and it would be worth it to get a gold membership if you frequently have knives you need appraising.
