I have a large rosewood on the way from an auction site. I really want a small rosewood one and can only find a "pre-order" opportunity at one online vendor. I have to wonder if they exist or ever will.

Yea that's my issue too. I want a large just to collect, i like to carry the small as well. Looks like my pro small shipped today at least.

On the subject of steels and purchasing decisions, I wish they would get rid of the 420J2 on the imported knives and just use 420HC, especially on the slip joints. IMO, better to concede the low end slip joint market to Rough Rider, Taylor Brand Schrade (mouth vomit) and the like. Bring the slip joints to the US and compete with Case for the mid range market.

I don't care where a knife is made or what kind of steel is used. This forum's constant hashing and rehashing (sometimes turning quite nasty) of the subject has made me numb to the situation.

But I would suspect there is a lot more to do with $$$ than just plain old flag waiving of Old Glory when it comes to dropping the steel/knife line. If Buck was that concerned with their purchasing of foreign materials, they wouldn't be outsourcing some of their sheaths and other steels in their lineup. And that doesn't take into account that entire line of Chinese made traditional patterned products made with one of the worst blade steels possible.

Although it might be true, it seems a bit disingenuous to single out a Swedish/foreign made steel as their reason to discontinue the model of that knife.
