Vantage Love Anyone?

Okay, I wasn't really happy with the cherry wood scales and put the stock ones back on yesterday. Then I started thinking about the cedar 110 I did for my cousin. So I cut out some cedar slices and put them in my wood hardener vacuum chamber I made to soak some wood hardener all the way through. I cut everything out which was easier to do this time since I knew how to do it already. Finished with a little CA glue. I'm much happier with this set. I rounded them over more so they fit more like the original scales.

I took a glass jar and mounted a fitting for and AC vacuum pump on the lid. I can't remember what the fitting is called but it's where you would hook up the gauges to the AC. And I just filled it with Minwax Woodhardener. Attach the hose and pump the air out. But you need a good size jar because it foams up a lot and you don't want that stuff getting into the pump. Now this isn't the way the professionals do it. It won't give you the shiny hard finish like they do but it definitely makes softer woods harder. Cedar is fairly soft so I wanted to help it out some

Wow. I didn't know folks were making all these different wooden scales.
Got my Vantage Pro in yesterday, and I am experiencing some Vantage love!

I'm a huge fan of the vantage Force Pro. Little heavier, but as I understand it they are sturdier and have some more reinforcing metal in the handle. I'm also a fan of the partially serrated knives, even though I know a lot of folks don't like it. The Vantage force Pro is my EDC knife and takes abuse like a champ. The s30v is studly.

100% agree with you!

The wood looks great. I got my son a Vantage for Christmas to replace the one we make macarta handle for. It got it's self lost.:(
I do have some Osage :)

You know, I've got a block of Osage that I wanted to use for this knife but it's got worm holes all in it. And it's so HARD!
You should do it

Just got my first Vantage. This is my first Buck many years. I'm lovin this knife. I am sure it will be my main EDC for quite sometime. Lock up and blade centering are perfect. Fit and finish are spot on. I have purchased knives 3-4 times the price over the past couple years that don't have the fit and finish of this knife.

Please excuse the overly large image. I don't know how to resize.... I barely know how to post an image...

I gifted my Avid to a friend of mine and picked up a Fore Select, both great knives. Now I'm wanting a Pro.

I have a Vantage Select large and was wondering if it's worth it to put those wood scales on this knife. Any thoughts?
