Vantage Pro vs. Kershaw Zing vs. Mini Grip

I live in So Cal also and I have read up on all knife laws in California and from what I have read there is no limit on folders, no fixed blades over 8", spring assisted are legal, no auto knives over 3", and no Balisongs.

Thanks Golddust. That is good news on the folders. Maybe I will get a 4" blade on my next one.:D

Actually, while California law technically does not have a length limit for folders, individual city/counties have laws against them. And most of them are 3 inches or less. You may want to look into your specific county/city to make sure you're legal.

As for fixed blades, they must be open carried. And autos must be below 2 inches, I believe. Or was it 1.5. I dont recall.

I have both and EDC my Mini-Grip over the zing ANY day. I keep the zing in the bug out back and use it regularly as a beater knife and on my firesteel. It's good, but the edge doesn't hold as well as the mini grip. And it's not as pretty :)

the large vantage pro may be bulkier than the others i find the s30 by buck to be exceptional . it may not be as sleek as the others but it sure is a workhorse. although you may work in an office your trip to & from work may require a sharp strong blade.

Thats how I understand the law, which is why I was asking which specific city or county had a 3" length limit. I travel and have family throughout most of SoCal and CentralCal and there is no way i'm going to memorize knife laws of every city or county I visit or pass thru except maybe the ones I spend significant time in. I've been carrying a knife since i was about 8-9 years old and have never had a problem anywhere in CA. Im in my late thirty's now and grew up at a time and place when most men carried sometype of knife. CA has changed quite a bit, we used to be more like the rest of Free America :(
