vantage pro

I have the first gen Vantage Pro (i guess you can call it first gen). A bit heavy in my opinion, but i love the flipper, g-10 handle, low-ride clip, and S30v blade. My only wish was that it was a frame lock and that Buck had skeletonized the liners to make it lighter. I'm personally not huge fan of black blades on the new one, but it looks like a nice successor to the first gen.

I have the smaller version of the Vantage pro and love it. Awesome F&F, my only small complaint is the thumb hole isn't made for lefties...

Nicey, nice!!!

I have the s30v Vantage Pro and really like it. I agree with SharpOne, sorta wish it was a framelock, but still a great knife.

The new Vantage Force line looks nice. But the thing that made the Vantage Pro so desirable IMHO was the "bang for the buck" factor (pardon the pun). You get a Paul Bos heat treated S30V blade, good fit-n-finish, G10 handle scales and a nice low-riding clip for $45 (what I paid for mine new). The only thing I wish that would change on it was the use of PB washers instead of nylon.

Looks like they added black coating, slightly different blade shape w/ thumb jimping and 3D machined G10 for about double the price. Probably worth it still but certainly not as compelling value-wise as the original.

Still might try to snag one though.

this black/blue vantage force pro looks really nice, but it's the same materials as the regular pro. it would have been nice for this new model to have a different blade steel (maybe D2 or some other "exotic steel").

i have a regular vantage pro (large) on it's way (i should have it friday:)). either way you can't go wrong with a vantage pro.

I don't like the look of the black version (and the fact that it's more expensive). The other version is less expensive and more attractive IMHO. It's an attractive entry level S30V pocket folder in the same category as the Spyderco Native and for a little more the Kershaw Ken Onion Leek. After the trouble I had with the s30v in my Native while being satisfied with Buck's S30V, I would recommend the Buck.
