With all the talk of the high end, full sized Vantage, I am surprised that there seems to be little interest in the smaller 420HC version. Same great blade shape of a known steel in a smaller pattern. Sounds to me like a domestic alternative to the Nobelman knives and perhaps a better knife all around.

Sure hope so anyhow as I've got one ordered. Will post my opinion of it when it arrives and I've had the chance to test it out.

I will say this, I must commend Buck on this new line of knives. It got me to pull the trigger on another of their products and I had kind of lost interest in them.

This is probably just a minority opinion (I'm sure it is), but in my opinion, the only thing that would make the knife interesting to me would be if it had some kind of exotic or above standard steel. I have literally dozens of "users", and unless a knife appeals to me estheticly, which the Vantage line doesn't, the only thing that would tempt me would be the blade material.

very interesting thought...we did not run the 340 in the avid and pro but certainly remains an option.
