Hello everyone, I bought 2 cold steel Voyager Volqueros off a knife website aound 80$ apiece. one plain edge one with serations. Everything looks right with them? Except acouple things ive never seen before. one of my pocket clips that came with the knife as a extra only has CS with a knife blade through it. Other than that all the colors are correct, thumbstud, box, came sharp, all the writing except the extra clip, lock up is tight and they are pretty smooth. On the plain edge blade there is a straight flat grind mark that isnt stonwashed whare the blade meets the first pit on the bottom? I dont understand why? Was that to adjust it at the factory or somthing anyone else has seen before similar? a fake/clone? I guess lesson learned if it is, its pretty hard to tell. Should there be any grind marks on the blade in that area? Thanks for any information id post a Pic if i could figure out how. Is a bummer that companies and people are taken advantage of. I never knew there was such a problem with CS fakes. Thanks everyone!! Sorry this is my fist post kinda newb question

Lol 🤦 after reading the counterfeits section ill just answer my own. Most likely a fake haha awsome im happy i had alot of modifications done on it. Definitely wont be having them done on another knife. Was a learning lesson. Careful buying anything that has their name.

Welcome to the forum DarkDay92.

Most likely a fake

Probably, though I am not sure I could say with confidence without actually seeing it.

And just for clarity, a clone is a design made by another company that mimics an existing design to a high degree, without trying to deceive one into thinking it is the other company's knife. A counterfeit is one that tries to trick you into thinking you bought a Vaquero when it's not actually one.

Careful buying anything that has their name.

Reputable dealers are the way to go.

Hey David nice meeting you. Well after its been modified to the point it has. Since the lock up seems strong. Is there a problem carrying these knives or are they not all that safe or smart idea to? First knife i bought and had modified haha i had not a clue🤷 ive just had cheap gas station beater blades. Some more mods are on the way before i knew, so I guess might aswell embrace it! I dono😅. Think its under warranty lol. Thanks for explaining Clones/counterfeits looks like i was probably tricked! I know a video on youtube of my knife but iam not sure its appropriate to say as its not my video and on somones personal business page. Yeah if I bought another, i think id just buy it from them and waste the bit of money for piece of mind.

Nice to meet you as well D DarkDay92 .

Whether it is a counterfeit or not, you spent money on it. So unless you have money to burn, if the knife is safe to use, then I'd use it. I'm guessing possibly there was something lost in translation, but to be safe, I'd also encourage thinking of purchasing from reputable dealers not as a waste of money, but money well spent/invested.

Cold Steel offers them with or without serrations. I have an older Vaquero in AUS 6 with serrations.

Speaking of the Vaquero . . . the recurve makes it tough to use a conventional paddle strop. For those who strop their knives and have a Vaquero, how do you manage?

I'm considering getting a cylindrical leather strop or maybe applying lapping paste to a dowel rod or even the super sturdy cardboard tube from a former roll of aluminum foil.

Those are clearly not Cold Steel serrations. And I don’t see how anyone could conclude they are mine based on both how they look and what has been said in the thread.

When I grind serrations, I grind thin behind the edge. The image I posted from DarkDay92's email shows the serrations were cut in with no thinning behind the edge.
