Variable speed controller

Looks like a good unit.. The only problem is that it limits you to 1hp.. What happens if your motor dies and/or you find a great deal on a more powerfull motor? That being said, it will do the job.
 
I can tell ya that you'll soon wish you had MUCH MORE than 1hp.....;)
 
i agree not enough hp for a belt grinder, but what size motors are most people putting on disk grinders?? i still havent took that plunge. bb
 
...maybe I'm just weird, but I don't remember ever needing more power than the 1hp motor on my Wilton before I swapped it for variable speed. Granted, I swapped it for a 2hp variable, but it wasn't so much because I felt I needed to, rather it wasn't as significant sum in dollars to step from 1.5 to 2hp.
I guess I just don't apply so much force to the process, as I'm not good enough to get away with it without messing something up! Regardless, it wasn't about power for me, but instead the amount of control that variable speed offered me.

this one is way too expensive - @ $250 + SH, you will be better off adding few more bux and getting a 2HP VFD.
 
Go with the Balder Controller DC Drive V/S 220v 1.5 or upper. Powerfull motor. You will be happy you did in the long haul. :thumbup:
 
Thanks for the inputs, I can't go with a 220v. So is that going to keep me at the 1HP range? I think 1HP would be more than I have now. The motor on my HMG is some ancient motor not really sure the power but it's small.

Hey IG,

Check and see if Phil , username PSO can hook you up. I bought two on his advise a few years ago and they are still going strong, but I did have the foresight to mount the VFD away from my work environment and control them remotely.
