These two were waiting on my work bench when I went into my shop this morning. It made me realize what a great hobby this is; never boring or repetitious. If I had to make the same pattern all the time I would probably go out and get a job as a flap folder at the box factory.

I agree! I am working on a chef's knife, a fighter, a dirk, two steak knives, and some skinners.

I'm with you there. I was a cabinet maker for years, which is similar to flap folding, except in wood. The variety of knife making is a pleasant change. I enjoy making period dirks and other culturally distinct pieces.
A coupe of nice blades your working on there. Fred

I'm a flap folder to be sure, but I still love doing it. Its sure good to see you Gerry. Nice work.

Having actually been basically a flap-folder at a box factory, I wouldn't go quite that far... but I definitely see your point. My current batch includes everything from hunter/EDCs to chef's knives and boning knives to fighters to big honkin' 10" bladed choppers. Plus a few little doo-dads that aren't knives at all. Some are custom orders, some are just standard models for inventory, some are brand-new designs. Finishes on them will range from 3000-grit silk polish to scotch-brite belt finish to tumbled. It does help keep things fresh and interesting :)

Your knives are NOT flap fold stuff. You have a great style and it works very well for you You might have noticed that I tried to copy it a few times:)

Maybe, but we make patterns and work like ants.

Most everything becomes a job at some point. Somewhere there is a guy that is dreading having to go in and check the lighting for ANOTHER Playboy shoot. :)

The title of this thread is exactly why I love making knives. My last few were a hidden tang hunter, then a damascus blade, then a kitchen knife. Now I'm working on a 5160 fighter.
