Just want to see and here about your favorite and old trusty varmint hunting rigs. Long range, over bore, sub caliber, light weight, truck guns, rimfire, bench, bipod, stand or hide. Prairie dogs, ground squirrel, coyote, fox, marmot, ground hog, bobcat, crow and other small game, what's your favorite?

^^ looks like a prickly land beaver (porcupine) to me.

Another of my favorite rigs, Crosman 1322 pellet pistol. This makes hunting a real challenge!

Did some critter shooting today at my mother in laws, used my Gamo Shadow 1250. Took 4 squirrels standing off hand from 25 to 55 yards.

This one was at about 35 yards, one shot to the CNS means DRT.

I added two rabbits to today's bag once it got dark, one at 10 yards and one at about 50 yards. Even with the stock plastic scope this little gun is pretty darn straight shooting. I grabbed it on a members only email coupon special for $90 out the door, hard to beat that price!

Remington R-15 in .223, the best yote calling stand-gun I've sat behind

My little .22 pellet gun. Perfect for our rat problem last winter. Enough power for the job but nice and quite so as not to disturb our neighbors :D. With well placed shots rats drop where they are

A new one is getting added to the fleet. The upper in the foreground is in .20 Practical, NiB bcg, 24" stainless BHW barrel, 15" AP Customs handguard, will have the same RRA hi-rise scope mount and also a 6-24 power scope. It will be sharing the lower in the background, which is why I built it as a clone of my other upper, so there's not difference in fit.

It's just mocked up in this picture to be sure everything fits properly before assembly, so that's why the handguard is crooked.

It really does, which is why I decided to go with it. Barrel life is not bad either, people are reporting 3K+ rounds with no degrade of accuracy. Not quite the barrel burner it appears to be on paper. Reloading/forming is super simple too, only two extra steps involved.

I've not been able to dig into it too deep with my work schedule, but I've been admiring the lack of pass-through on coyotes my buddy is getting in .20 cal; however it is a bolt .204. Your .20 is more what I've been contemplating.

This cartridge matches the .204 Ruger ballistically, with less powder and cheaper cases. Obviously the big benefit is ease of feeding in an AR platform. Check out 6mmar.com for tons of info on the .20 Practical. My loads are 23.5gr of IMR4198, 32gr Hornady Vmax and 4000 fps with less drop and windage at 400 yards than a .223.

Very nice. I like that the .20 P is necked down, but the shoulder is left alone. Practical indeed. Thanks for that sir!

Gratuitous varmint pic :D

Here's my dad and an "uneducated" yearling 'yote we stumbled upon in Northern Nevada. He got it at about 25 yards with 180gr Nosler ballistic tip from his R700 in .30-'06! Pretty devastating what it did on both sides of that critter, kind of a shame as it was a beautiful pelt.

Myself, took this Jack at about 15 yards with the .45 and some nasty hollow points. Again, massive wounds channel. Both were opportunity shots when moving from one scouting spot while hunting speed goats.
