Hello all, has anyone had any experience working with vasticola burl? Is it a difficult wood to work? Any opinions or experiences would be much appreciated. Any photos of finished product?
Thank you- Mark
RyanW just finished one up with Vasticola.
It was stabilized Vasticola.
From what I have seen, the Vasticola is less prone to the open eyes and small hairlines you see in other red Australian burls.
Thanks for the link. That is a beauty. The vasticola is beautiful as well . It seems many wood workers of many crafts buy out the vasticola burl really quick. It's nice stuff-thanks Mark
Hey Mark,I didn't realize you have some on your site. I guess they stabilize well. Im guessing ,with my experience with lots of aussie mallee burl, that it is on the heavy side. Thanks - Marek-Mark
Mark, it seems very easy to work with. as Mark F. said it was stabilized so I don't know how that affected the workability? Beautiful stuff not one void in the block... I have been on an Australia wood kick lately.
