I can't wait to see it finished Bruce. You've become the Worlds best builder of Cut-n-Shoot

It never fails to amaze me, the talent I see here.
I can't wait to see the results.
Please post pics:thumbup:.

Nice work and I can't wait to see photos of the finished piece. It is always great to see someone enjoying himself and making something wonderful at the same time

Does the BATF consider that a muzzle loader or an "Any Other Weapon" or have you bothered to get a ruling?

Very cool. Percussion cap or primer fired?

It is a muzzle loader single shot. The BATF does not waste their time on them. If it didnt look like a gun they would start to pay attention. It is perfectly legal to manufacture and sell muzzleloaders without a FFL. If it was a modern cartridge gun of any kind it can be made and used but not sold.

Yes it takes a standard #11 percusion cap.

The .22 calibre 30 grain lead bullets are available from North American Arms and are specially designed for their muzzle loader revolver. They make really small pistols, even one that attaches to a belt buckle. I also buy the nipples from them because they are so small. I have heard of the primer fired front loader but I havent played with that yet.

Very nice! What kind of heat treating goes into one of these? Different temps for different parts? Are all parts the same steel?

Very cool Bruce! There must be alot of time and effort into that, I could not even begin to understand where to start!

Beautiful, as always! ---I mean dang!:)

Two things:

Do you plan to color case harden the 'frame'?? (I think a top-notch cch job would be great on this piece).:thumbup:

Do you plan to run those "extremely rare for the period (:D)" socket flatheads under the grips or perhaps change 'em out later for slotted flatheads?

The main frame is low carbon 4140 steel and rockwells at 35. The hammer, wish bone and trigger are made from precision ground 0-1 and are tempered back to 49-50. The trigger return spring/sear is 1095 steel and is spring tempered at about 46. The hammer spring is from Brownells and is a coil spring, compression type. The blade is 1084/15n20, blade pivot is 440c at full hardness. The liners are made from titanium. All pivot pins are full hard drill rods.
Thanks for the interests. A man after my own heart.

Hello Joe!
This one will get a couple feet of gold wire and engraving but no CCH. Instead it will get Doug Turnbulls famous Charcoal Bluing aka Carbona Blue. I had some warping from the last color case hardening. This 4140 should show the blue very nicely.
The screws are all temperary. Good eye! :D

bladed guns are definitely high on the neato factor (of course axe guns are tops!).

Way to cool Bruce......This is another Beauty as if you could do anything that wasnt..
