Venturing into the world of fixed blade EDC

Oh god tell me about it. The look us knife guys get from anti-knife people is ridiculous. It is a man with a knife he must be out to stab someone. A grown man with a knife should be normal especially when hiking and such, people are so afraid these days they like to rid people of any capability. IT'S A TOOL, GET A LIFE-REALLY GET A LIFE.:grumpy:

I don't know I haven't really noticed dirty looks. Of course I also don't care.:D I once did a hike on a heavily used sheeple trail with a CS trail hawk in my waistband and I don't think many people gave it a second thought. Maybe because people think "hatchets" are tools where knives are regarded as weapons.

I know I saw them on here while lurking around a bit, but I haven't paid my dues yet :o. So no search for me: anyone have a few pics (or just 1 good one lol) of the thickness of the Izula scales so I have an idea? I have an Izula on order, and I'm considering ordering the scales now, too. Thanks in advance!

I've carried my Iz in the front pocket or my back pocket behind my wallet. It works great. It isn't as fast of a draw as a folder clipped on my pocket. But, it does have alot of other utility the folder doesn't have.

That or my Emerson Commander cover my EDC duties. If I'm in khakis or or Carhartts it works equally well.

I just ordered a black Izula today and i'm going to give it a try as my first fixed blade EDC knife. I probably wouldn't have considered it if not for the forums here. I'm going to give it an orange and black paracord wrap. i'll post pics when it arrives.

Nice, you should have tried it a long time ago. I think I started EDCing fixed blades before I even owned a folder. You'll find you don't have to debate about tip up or tip down, it doesn't matter which pocket you carry it in and you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a fancy action that locks up tight. All the crazy headaches people go through trying to find an effective way to EDC their folders simply don't matter with a fixed blade-it's allways there, regardless.

the izula has been in my pocket about half the time since i got it. the rest of the time my primary blade is a sage 2. The izula is fantastic.
