I had the idea of putting together a knife that sort of honors the Purple Heart medal, and more importantly, those who sacrificed themselves in combat. Purple Heart is such a beautiful wood and works very well as a knife handle material. The blade is made from thin 52100, has a full flat grind and a very very thin edge geometry. The blade was hand rubbed to a high satin finish and has my maker's mark on the left side, and 52100 on the right side. The heat treat was full tilt, including a normalizing cycle, a couple of grain refinement cycles, a DET anneal, fast oil quench, "cryo" bath, and triple tempers for a final hardness of 63HRC and very fine grain/carbide size. The handle is purple heart wood with brass spacers and a white acrylic spacer, sort of resembling the colors of the Purple Heart medal. I have yet to put the edge on it, but it will be ~13° per side, finished on a Spyderco UF stone. I want to reiterate that this knife blade is thin, and the grind was taken to "zero" and backed off just enough to barely reflect light prior to sharpening. It is a slicing machine, for sure.

Thank you to everyone who has served our great nation.

Paypall preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). All knives come with free shipping in the USA as well as a lifetime unconditional warranty. Something goes wrong, the knife gets repaired or replaced. I ask that the buyer be aware that most all of my knives are cutting tools and are made only for their intended use. I like to make thin, hard knives that excel at cutting and not necessarily able to take abuse. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or contact me by email (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). Thanks for taking a look, and follow me on Instagram at stuartalandavenport.

If you want to make more of these for others you should probably leave up the sales price so we all can see what it costs.
