Could you offer me a suggestion of what would be a step more coarse? You seem to be the right person to do so.. :)

As soon as I can find it.

The insurance adjustor that did a detailed inventory on the household contents did just that. Went through EVERYTHING and left it pretty much in a big pile on the bed. Most of my sharpening stuff was in the bedroom.

I have found my waterstones and 14" smooth steel and relocated them to the safe.

Discrete too, never mentioned the safe or what may be in there.

I'll find it all and report back.

IIRC they went from something like 220 grit up to 12 or 1500.

I apply the lee valley stuff to my strop by shaving little pieces into a small plastic mixing cup (shot glass size), put in a few drops of alcohol(which dissolves the wax), mix with a stick until the whole mess turns into a kind of thin paste, spread on strop evenly and let dry. This method gives me a very uniform thin coating of compound across my strop with very little heart ache. It will take you a few times to get the proportions correct.....remember it doesn't take much.
