Vertical bladeplay in axis-lock folders

Sounds like there could have been a problem when it was made. My BM710 is going on 7 years old and it's been my primary EDC and has been flipped open and closed thousands of times and it never had a problem. If anything the operation is better than it was when it was new. It's super smooth, and I don't feel any play. I wonder if with more use it would break in and lock up better? I also treated my AXIS locks with Militec-1 and it made their operation even better. You could try giving them a good cleaning with hot water and some dish soap, scrub with a tooth brush, and flush out as much crap as you can around the pivot and lock. Then dry it out really good with compressed air, hair dryer, etc. Then re-lube with a good lube like TufGlide, Militec-1, etc. When you apply Militec-1 you want the knife around 140F so it bonds properly. I just run a hair dryer on the knife to heat it up, apply Militec-1, then keep the hair dryer on it to maintain the temp. I use a meat thermometer to check that I'm in the 140F range.
