This is an uncommon type of burl that forms as a nodule on the end of a root. Some of the Coastal Redwoods will have a root pop out high up the trunk with one of these on the end. This burl looked like a 3 foot long wooden cucumber. It is entirely burl. About the same hardness as normal redw ood so it will need to be stabilized. Some really wild looking stuff. Some of the blocks have figure that looks like a sunburst. The figure in these blocks is very chatoyant with a shimmer that moves around beneath the surface as you move the block.
This is old stock burl that was collected back in the 80s. These blocks will look several shades darker taking on an orange/red color when they are finished.
These photos show both sides of the blocks wiped with a damp cloth to give a better idea how they will look finished.
When you see blocks you want, just post "I'll take #s ...." and I will mark them sold for you. US shipping is $2.50 each or $10 for as many will fit in a flat rate box.
