This maple came from the estate of a fine woodworker that passed away several years ago. The guy who brought it in said it had been stored in his workshop since the 90s. This is good dry, well seasoned wood.
I am not sure what variety of maple it is. When I cut and sanded this it seemed noticeably harder than our West Coast Big Leaf Maple. These are natural blocks, they have not been stabilized. My opinion is that the wood would be fine unstabilized for medium duty knives. For knives that will see hard use and extreme conditions you might want to have it stabilized.
If you would like your blocks cut into scales, I can do that for you at no charge. I normally cut the scales about 3/8" thick unless requested otherwise.
If you would like your blocks stabilized, I can send them in with my next batch to K&G for $7 per block. Turn around time is usually 3 to 4 weeks. Just mention what you want in your post.
When you decide which blocks you want to get just post "I'll take #s...." and I will mark them sold for you.

The blocks are selling for $20 each. If you buy 3 or more blocks from this thread you can have a volume discount of $5 off each block. So 3 or more they would be $15 each.
