Very Disappointed

Ralf,
I've seen and handled both the Mick custom and a Strider MT, and there is a world of difference. On being that the the custom is BG-42 while the MT is ATS-34, and of course there is the SIZE! I'll post a pic of the custom next to an MT later today and you can be the judge. Whether these differences justify the price is up to each individual to decide. It seems you've already made your decision :D

Ralf, I've seen the customs in person and they are definitely premium knives. Keep in mind that the time it takes to design a production model is divided many times more due to the numbers.

Others, for guys into .45's I URGE you to check out a Valtro .45 before buying others! You won't be sorry.

I have handled Mick's custom and it is an great expression of the Strider knife philosophy. I hope he does more. I can't imagine paying that much for one, but someone did, so it is worth it. More power to him.

These guys have been doing what most of us aspire to do- succeeding. They work damned hard, have done a lot for the core of their military community, given their customers a tool/weapon that is one of the best. Now Mick goes off and does some customs, while the Striders keep comin' as well made as ever. I applaud him (he?) and Duane.

Stop sniveling!

Ralf,
First off I'm an enlisted Military member and if that was the knife I wanted I would buy it. Second unless you are Duane or Mick you don't know what it cost to produce there knives. Don't compare them to other knives because they are not other knives they are Strider Knives. Second if you think it is to expensive then simply don't buy it. Mick and Duane are not in the buisness of ripping people off. They are both very honorable craftsman who make a living building these tools. They started from the bottom and worked there way up to the top. If you have a problem with that than I'm sure they would have no problem without your buisness. I'm speaking soley on my opinions keep that in mind.
There mission statement is still very much true. They have a whole fleet of affordable knives for the enlisted man. And they now offer something more. They haven't stopped what they have been been doing for years and replaced it with the new. They simply added something new to what they already have.
You have made them out to be money hungry vultures with no sense of loyalty. I assure you that this is a far cry from the truth. Mick and Duane have been and still are dedicated to there mission. Don't compare other knives to theres. If you want something else fine. But don't bash someone simply for indavidual creativeness.
You should think before you speak.

I don't really understand the point of this thread, but here's my view anyway.

I buy 2-3 knives per month. I like knives. Alot.

Some are production, some are custom, and some are exceedingly custom. I have reasons for purchasing all three types.

If you want to get from point A to point B, you can buy a Ford Explorer or a Mercedes sport ute. Choose what you can afford and what suits you best.

If you want to shoot something, buy a Ruger 10/22 or buy a Steyr AUG and have Robar trick it out. Choose.

If you want to cut something, buy a Buck knife......or buy a Strider. If you still want more than a Strider, buy a custom Mick Strider. Again,....choose.

I rarely spend more than $500 for a knife, but this year there are a grand total of TWO that I feel are worth more than $500 to me; a Strider Tiger (Zombie Killer) and a Jerry Hossom Millenium Machete. I have chosen.

Nobody forces anyone to buy a custom anything. If you can't afford nor justify the best, then don't interfere with those who can and do.

If a Strider is the best,....then a Mick Strider is probably the best of the best. So.......choose. The fewer people who are in line in front of me for the things that I want,...the happier I am.
