Very dissapointed in my Case Peanut

So, the other day I decided to work on my tractor.
The oil buildup on a couple of the bolts was pretty thick, so I had to scrape it off with something.
Peanut to the rescue!
Or so I thought.
The peice of junk got dull afterwards!
My Frost knives stay scalpel-sharp forever, and the Case wasn't even up to the task.
Whatever. I figured I'd give it another shot.

So I went for a hike.
It started getting cold, so I decided to make a fire.
I've seen countless videos on people battoning with Beckers, so I thought the trusty "legend" of the Peanut could do it too.
I got soft wood also, like Locust and Hickory.
First hit, the darn thing closed halfway on me!
I figured they could at least use springs that could handle it!
Second hit, it made a bad noise...
The dang tip snapped off!
So I decided to just pound it in the side of the stick like a nail, and pry it apart.
And guess what? It couldn't even do that.
This simple task caused the whole darn blade to snap off.

Can't believe this little guy couldn't handle simple EDC tasks. Especially with all the commotion about how awesome they are.
Guess I'll keep buying Winchesters and Smith and Wesson knives from this point forth.

:D

You need to get yourself one of these

This is the ultimate survival knife, this thing did everything the commercials said it could and it's just keeps ticking. The only thing it couldn't do is stay sharp or take a good edge, but who needs a sharp knife when you've got matches string and a compass in the handle 😁

You know, I was really disappointed with the performance of my Opinel No. 8 Stainless. It snapped in the middle of the blade while I was prying a pallet apart! I'm never buying a piece of junk like that again

That's excellent!

To the OP, you batoned a peanut sized folding knife on hickory or locust? Soft wood? Simply amazing. Must be an April Fools kind of thing.

The compass will come in handy during my super-covert-black-ops missions.

I use the compass so I don't get lost in the backyard when I'm using this thing to dig up weeds, sadly it doesn't work to well and I still get lost sometimes 😁

That's your problem, then. The diamonds made the blade too brittle and chippy. Never stray from the original formula. There is a reason they don't actually use all that alphabet soup stuff everyone else does, and have their own top secret formulations. Firstly - they have perfected steel, and no one really needs to know what it is made of. Secondly, if you let that formula fall into the wrong hands, it could result in world domination.

Don't mess with the perfection of a factory Peanut, if you want to get the results you expect.

If Case used better steel, you'd have been OK. Honestly, I do most of my batoning with Rough Rider peanuts. The HT is amazing!

Thanks for the review. I don't have a Case xx peanut but have wanted one for a good while. The people here consistently praise this little knife. They must be paid off.
Anyway thanks for the heads up. I may try out one of those Pakistan deals instead .

I don't know how good a Pakistan peanut would be, but I'm sure this " GEM " of a Pak folder could get the job done.

I use Frost Cutlery folders too! They're very good at the intended use for their folders. Operating Operationally in an Area of Operations, or for those that have Operated-OOAO. My Frost scoops evil dog poop like a demon! Once a terrorist saw me using my Frost to scoop poop and was so horrified by my Frosts function and ability to Operate that he dropped his suicide vest and ran in the other direction. His vest was well disguised to look like a tote bag but an Operator like myself knows the difference. It has 3 letters on it but I still can't figure out what terrorist organization PBS is? It even had some propaganda in it, some extremist dvds labeled Downton Abbey. I tried watching one to get more intel but soon figured out that these dvds were to be used to torture the patriotic foes of these evil sickos.

My Frost folder also has a very innovative lock function, I still can't find what they call it though? The blade rocks back and forth on what looks to be a liner lock so much that a stiff wind can close it. I think it's to cause more damage when used on a terrorist. It must flop around after being inserted into the terrorist scum kind of like how a dog wags its tail. Only a true Operator can use it, if you don't Operate Operationally then you could lose your fingers. This is probably why it comes duller than a butter knife. Only a true Operator could sharpen it so they don't have to worry about this tuff as nails folder hurting the wannabe sheeple. Thanks for letting us all in on the Case peanut's worthlessness. I stick with my Frost perfection!

Can they function as throwing knives as well?

They're great throwers! They hit 100% of the time when you walk them up to the target. They tend to do more damage if you keep the knife closed however.

The OP should have stayed with a S&W tactical for batoning. Always remember, the right tool for the job! :D
