So i finally bought one. Its the only Kershaw collab that appealed to me. While the Chinese Kershaws are REALLY good, i was still kind of expecting sort of a "toy Emerson," so to speak.

I am highly, pleasantly, surprised! The overall feel and impression of this thing is MUCH closer to the "real deal" than i would have expected. Feels very much like my EKI Knives. Not only is Ernie's design here awesome, but the execution doesn't feel like an imitation.

To anyone on the fence about getting a Kershaw Emerson collab, i highly recommend it. While no replacement for an EKI, they'll make a highly worthy addition to any Emerson collection.

I agree. I have 6k and a 7k and they are nice for what you pay. Heavy but they feel solid and lock up solid. Ergos are typical Emerson with a fairly smooth handle. These make an awesome beater knife if you don't want to spend a lot.

Yep totally agree. For the price it is a very solid knife. Total Emerson ergos in a slimmer package.

I had the 8k. To be honest I thought it ended up being a pretty big waste of $40... EXCEPT its what turned me on to the real deal so maybe it was a good investment.

I recently was privileged enough to give one a try. I am really surprised with how well designed the knife is, overall fit and finish is good as well. A great EDC knife.

Only problem with mine is the lockup is at like 80% brand new. It locks solid but i dont see much life left if it wears. I hear these normally come with pretty late lockup tho.

Can anyone weigh in on theirs?

Here is the lockup of mine, been that way since new and hasn't moved. the lock is stainless so it should have minimal wear.

My 6k came at about 80% and 7k at about 50%. I haven't used them much but wouldn't worry about them wearing quickly, especially since they are steel. Both of my Emerson framelocks, HD7 and CQC 12 came with very late lockup, 80% or so, and after significant use haven't moved. I used to be worried about late lockup but after using these 2 knives have realized it isn't as big a deal as I thought.

Thx guys. Mine is actually later than that picture, but as said, i agree late lockup not as much of a problem as its widely made out to be. Long as it doesnt move more. Both my EKIs were also pretty late right out of the box. Settled in around 70 percent.

I love my 6K, my only complaint was the smooth-ish thumb disk. I ordered an Emerson disk from the mothership, replaced the Kershaw (using the Kershaw screw) disk with it and it's perfect. A little heavy, but I love the blade shape and it is plenty sharp and sturdy. I've paid much more and gotten a lot less.

As a fan of Kershaw and a huge fan of Emerson I had to pick up a 6k. Despite being made in China, the build is flawless and the ergos are typical EKI. At the price I have zero complaints...except that I wish it was produced in the US. Lock up is great, disengages well and zero play. Great knife

I will add my appreciation to Emerson for putting these out. I think they are great knives.

The wave feature, on a V-grind, I'm sold on it.

I have also fallen in love with the CQC-6K. I bought one and was so impressed with it I quickly bought another. The ergonomics of the handle are great, the wave feature works very well, and the shape of the blade is usefull. Both of the knives came with late lockups, but I actually like that as I feel it provides a stronger lock.

I have seen several posts/videos that state "real" Emersons are not for everyone; they are definately not for me. But the Kershaw/Emersons . . . lets just say I plan to purchase many more. They will make great gift knives.

My dad has one and loves it, but the very thin slot on the pivot screw is a pain. It's hard to find a tool to fit it. Emerson's nowadays you can use a dime or the flat head on a Swiss army knife.

Also I believe I saw approximately the same models for sale through ZT, there's are made in the U.S.A.

I may just replace the Kershaw with a domestic knife at some point soon.

I have 3 of the Kershaw/Emerson CQC-8Ks. One (the first one I got) has a lock-up at about 80% and the blade was shifted a bit to the non-lock side. I disassembled the knife and followed the procedure in somebody's (Emerson's?) sticky for re-centering the blade, which improved things greatly. It also made the lock-up a little earlier. I have ground the Health out of this knife (not the blade) to make it more ergonomically suitable to me (opened up the scoop in the G10 where the thumb goes to grab the thumb-disk, and generally rounded off all the G10 edges a la the edges on an Ontario Rat 1). Anyway, this knife feels now like I've used it for 20 years everyday and it has molded to my hand.

The other two Emerson/Kershaw CQC-8Ks are pretty perfect, and I'm probably not going to do anything to them (or even use them much), until my customized one starts falling apart.

BTW, I have 3 regular Emerson knives, my fav being the original A100. What a great knife.

I love mine I got it to try out the wave feature and now it's in my rotation came in with really bad centering but I used some left over bronze washers instead of the plastic ones that came with it and it opens smoother and center is better. I like using for practice modifications because if I ruin it it had a good run and was not that expensive. I have already made blue glow in the dark spaces and am working on making some scales for it.
