A month ago I ordered a Mini FOK Wharncliffe from Sam Jones at Grindhouse Knives. I tried to buy one at GPKnives and BladeHQ, but all the Grindhouse knives they ordered were out of stock! It seems Grindhouse is an up and coming. So I just had to go direct to the maker. Sam was kind and took my order for exactly what I wanted. A month later it appeared.
I just received the knife this AM and I am very impressed. What an absolutely beautiful knife. The fit and finish is what you would expect from any of the top custom makers...absolutely top notch. The action on this knife is just incredible. The blade just rockets out with the slightest pressure on the flipper. I have never seen an action like this on a Flipper.
Here is a video of the action:

I also found out that FOK stands for the Future Of Kniving. Love it!
The blade is brutally sharp. Maybe even a little sharper than a couple of Medford's and Hinderer's I just compared it too when hacking up some paper
The blade is perfectly centered and expertly ground. It locks up nice and early, which I love, and lock-up is rock solid. The detent is nice and strong as well, easy enough to overcome when pressing the flipper, but there is no chance of it falling open in your pocket.
The knife is surprisingly light given the overall thickness of the blade. The blade thickness does not detract from the elegance of this knife. I would call it an elegant little beast. The knife is over-built like a Medford, but much more elegant and refined. Not at all clunky and no harsh edges or corners in the design. There is nothing resembling a hot spot on this knife, it sits in the hand perfectly like it belongs there. It also feels really nice in the hand when you choke up on it. Surprising for a small knife. In fact it is just as comfortable in your hand when you are choked up on it or when you are just holding it regularly. Great ergos!
The knife has a blue/purple anodized titanium frame, a carbon fiber scale on the front, and a Carpenter's CTS-XHP steel blade. The clip is what Sam calls his unobtanium clip. The clip is made of Unobtainium - a crystalized form of pure Titanium
Each little color variation is an individual crystal that permeates the entire thickness of the material. It's really cool stuff and Grindhouse is the only one using it. He has an exclusive deal with the company that owns the patent of the process to make it. It looks a lot like meteorite but you can anodize it.
