Very large knife=thick sheath? Not necessarily

The knife belongs to a Dentist up North and he does plan on using it…….BUT I would bet it will be for some relatively short camping outings and it will probably not see much abusive use at that. I agree with Dwayne, probably most of it's life will be spent being displayed or stored.

Using to display at his practice to make sure all bills will be settled? :D

Knife specs. Busse 11" blade 5/16" thick stock, 16 1/2" over all length.

Sheath: Wicket and Craig Veg.tan 7/8 oz with 2/3 oz. lining, total about 10 oz. with beaver tail inlays. Collar retention with D ring tie down. Single 7/8 oz. welt.

The sheath measures 13/32" thick from just below the belt loop wedge all the way to the tip. After the first insertion the knife slips easily in and out and the sheath has formed to the thickness of the blade which gives really good additional retention.

Great looking sheath as always! 👍 always an inspiration to see your work.

Paul,

Do you have any photos of the inside of the sheath where the D ring is attached? Or can you explain how that is put together? There are other ways to attach a D ring but your method is very tidy.

Thanks, Marc

i4Marc, No photos, but you'll find the answer to your question in post #10.
