Very light weight hatchet or hawk

i have the atax and it is a beast of a tool, and easy to carry, you do need to fashion a handle for it. i also have the pilots axe but have not used it much. i am wantign to try a skachet but have not found one. also a old hickory cleaver looks interesting especially modified.

I have found the trail hawks to be great, I still have my old one, as well as the old handle, its still going, great little axe. It doesnt have super chopping ability, but its better than the knives I carry,

Alex,

I'm with you on the ATAX. It is amazingly comfortable to wear, a couple of zip ties and you are good to go. The Skatchet is neat, lighter than the ATAX, but the steel is really hard to sharpen., my files just wouldn't bite on the edge. I wouldn't want to have to sharpen it at the camp...

I do also have the Fiskars, while I like it and it works really well I would like to half the weight. I also have tried the short handled Fiskars and did not like it, much heavier than leuku and not as versatile.

From your comments it looks like some hawk with about 14" handle would be a good guess, recommendations?

Gerber Gator. Extra knife in teh handle, light, and durable. Plus a decent hammer poll.
