Robert, beautiful 'clean' looking knife and sheath.
I really like 440C for a Hunter. Stainless makes good sense and in my experience with this steel and with ATS-34, S30V, CPM154, and others, i have found the 440C to sharpen up and edge hold just as well as these more high priced steels.
Good Choice !

Roland,

440-C seems to be a "forgotten" steel. Maybe because its not the latest thing on the steel scene. It may also be due to a few manufacturers over the years using 440-A with perhaps a questionable heat treat.

440-C, when heat treated right, will hang in there with the big boy ($$$$$$) steel for most applications. I like it.

I agree, 440-c seems to be overlooked and is often confused with 440-a and 440-b, 440-c is an excellent stainless all around and with 17 percent chromium it is hard for it to rust at all.

Dadburn Robert, that's another good'un! Of course. I've never known a "bad'un" to come out of your shop! Just a note for you, that UglyKnife of 1095 I traded with you several years back has more than held it's own in heavy use. Sent it up to my son in Ky. over the winter and he and my grandsons used it for dressing deer, hogs, stripping wire, etc. and it came through with nar a knick. Had to threaten them with bodily harm to get it back. See ya!

Rick,
Those "ugly knives" of Bob's just won't go away and let him live down the fact he ever made them. Mine is still perking along too. My sorry nephew tried to mess it up but it just took a lickin'.:-)

R-Lo and Doc, you guys are something else. Glad to hear your blades took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. Doc, I know that at least one of mine that you have has seen some foreign duty in big game country.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments,

Robert
