I was surfing the big action site and found a knife marked “buck” the blade steal looks to be carbon steal the finger guard and handle are very odd I can’t tell if it’s even a real buck or not. The blade stamp look legit but idk maybe a treasure for those that collect the older ones. Search this should pull it up

Vintage Buck Knife USA Fixed Blade Hunting Knife with Sheath

I'm far from an "expert", bit nothing on that knife looks ligit.
Guard and pommel are way off.
Over-all quality does not look like something Buck did.
Even if I was looking for a Buck fixed blade and I had the money, I'd pass on it.

Wouldn't a single line Buck have an inverted stamp??

Not always...

That knife could have lignum vitae wood from the 1955 Group 8. But Group 9 knives were stamped on the left. Which this one is. 1955-56. It could have a different sheath but the stamp looks correct to me. We have collectors that own this era knives and these
model knives are beyond my pay grade. DM

I've not held one of these. I have held a group 5 & group 6 knife. And visited at length with the owner. A rare treat for me. Thank you. DM

A lot of collectors who started with more modern models drift into collecting the early ones and old Custom shop knifes..I think for the challenge of it! If only Buck had made a few 112's back then..

Bucksway, I admire your steadfast dedication to the 112.

I good thing in this I internet age at least us common folk get to see the really rare stuff.
