very soon to be bk9 owner and i'm wondering what to do about the handle.

I have had my bk7 for about 1 year now. I wish got the bk9. But i have found out that this is a great knife. Alittle light for heavy choping but it makes up for it being very sharp. takes chunks out. Ah the handles it slef are slick and I fixed it by just putting some garrila tape on it. works for me. and it didnt cost me anything. if anyone wants to trade a slighty used 9n for a slightly used 7 let me know.

as with the above... i'd wait until you have one in hand... might not be an issue for you, as it's not been an issue for MANY people over yhhe last few decades.

don't let some random internet cowboys steer you wrong :D

that said, there's tons of options, so, sally forth!!!

Great knife and good advice already given in this thread. I like the stock handles and here - this should help throw you over the edge. Buy it! :D

Stuntman, buy the BK9, and STIPPLE the grips with a soldering iron. Tough, lift, move, touch, you get the idea. When yer done, lightly sand it and yer good to go.

I second(third?) the bicycle inner tube over the handles. Got some over my -2 and the -7 I just got. It adds cushion for shock absorbtion, plenty of grip, and the rubber serves as an emergency tinder if need be.

Hey Stunt Man......

Thanks for becoming a customer and thanks for dropping in here.......I have and use both the Micarta and Grivory handles.....I use them interchangeably and hardly notice....Use the stock scales for a while and see what you think.....I like the LOOK of the Micarta a lot.....It has always screamed quality to me but the stock scales are pretty bomb proof and will do you just fine, I think........

Have a ton of fun with your new blade and please come back and share the fun........

All Best....

I was worried about the handles on my BK9 before I actually handled the knife. Once I got it I realized the handles weren't too slippery, I just put a paracord lanyard on it so I can have the knife secure to my wrist.

I have been thinking about stippling it and then sanding down the stippling a little bit to make it smooth but grippy.

I would give the stock handles a chance before you go and replace them.
