Something happened last week, a couple of things, really.

We had our monthly meeting at work. The last one was quite downcast, and the outlook for the rest of the year was bleak.

This time around, we have gotten several large orders, some of which span several years. What used to be our best case scenario is now our worst case scenario. Our best case scenario is far in excess of what anyone had hoped for.

What that means for us, is management does not want to hire or call back many, if any of the employees they've laid off over the course of the last year. For the rest of us, that means overtime, and a lot of it, for the foreseeable future. Which is good for me, as I've sold nearly everything of any value to make it this last year and the well is running dry. Now I'll be working to pay off as much of the debt I've accrued over the last three years due to the family situation and two surgeries.

The other thing is, we were expecting the head of the company that owns ours to come to this meeting, and hand out the employee of the year and another award that's for the top salaried person. Much to my surprise, I got awarded Employee of the Year. I was quite surprised, as the management played it well enough that I didn't even think I was in favor, much less in the running for an award. I'm also quite humbled because I can think of at least two of the people on the list (they pick from the list of employees of the month from the previous year) that were better choices than me.

I can only see this as a blessing from God, and perhaps a sign that this series of trials is over.

Uplifting news and as you say, its comes at just the right time.

Congratulations upon being recognised and honoured for your efforts. :)

Why not celebrate with your fellow colleagues with a BBQ?
I'm pretty sure everybody needs a break.:)

I'm happy that you are awarded. It's a recognition you never expect.

The guys in work are whining about it.

I took my father out for steaks instead.

Very glad to see this news, Cpl. Congratulations.

btw, there will be more trials in the future, but neat to see this current batch is taking a breather. :)

Be gentle with yourself.

I'm not a very superstitious person, but I'm crossing my fingers that things are looking up for you.:D

Good to hear that fortune has found your door!sounds like it was perhaps a bit late, but welcome all the same! Congratulations my friend!

After the greatest storms beam the most beautiful rainbows.
Congratulations on being recognized.
On a personal note, I'm not a big as your employer, but I would like to thank you for contributing in my khukuri quests. I have always appreciated your input and look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

There's absolutely nothing as validating or as rewarding as being recognized. Anything that comes with it is just gravy.

Congratulations on a job well done!

There will ALWAYS be haters and doubters, which you found none in HI.

Brought your A-game and now sit back and enjoy the ride !:D

That is great i hope all gets better - as someone said here "there are always trials" - i can vouch for that - but oh well -

- from what i gather of your personality from reading what you write here in the forum. I would venture to say that when it comes to trials and tribulations - at least you have walked head first into them with dignity and perseverance -- good for you !

Integrity honesty perseverance - if that's all i have that's more than what a lot of men have

Seriously; no BS - Eric

Glad to hear this good news!
Congrats to you!
And keep on performs your best!

That's great!

Be sure to tell the other 2 people you mention that you think that. It will make their day.
