Ww2 history is so corrupt. The victors write history. Distortion enough for people to find some kind of pride in it.


I miss polishing my boots. Man O Man, could I lay a polish.



You see, I was one of those pretty boy MPs that escorted high rank around. Guarded their house. Every seam ironed.


I can still smell the boot polish.

I am not sure of the causes but every forum I am on periodically goes into the predictable "young people are no good, my generation was the best, blah, blah" rant. I don't want to shock you but every young person in the 1940's was not Audie Murphy, every young person today is not the pampered self centered individual our generation so often depicts. In many ways young people today are the best generation we have had, fighting for equality, the environment, human rights, etc etc. They have constantly pushed the boundaries of medicine, technology and made life safer and better for all people. I often think old people are simply jealous of young people so they feel the need to denigrate the whole generation. I enjoy being around them and am thankful for their contribution to our society. By the way I will be 79 years of age on my next birthday

I think there's a shortage of decent role models for some of these young folks.

I vividly remember the scene after a skirmish where Murphy and his squad hop a ride on a Sherman tank. Something said like it must be great to be protected with all this armor? The tank commander reply's,this armor isn’t that thick! Murphy then reply's ( while grabbing on to his uniform shirt) how thick do you think these shirts are?

That is a complex question.Certainly not all of our young people are deficient in life skills but I believe there is a purposeful and concerted effort by society in general and our education system to thwart our young from being the best they can be.
