  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Veteran's Day (with a Buck angle for posting)

Yes, it's good to be remembered in a positive light for a few days out of the year.
I'm set to deploy this winter and will take the 110 damascus that I got from Dave with me when I go.
Thanks to all who served, you did much more than many others. You were there and were a deterrent against those who would have done us harm.

like i told you ...
bring that knife back from the sand box in person ...
as i want to see you and it again!

Decaf...
Mrs Goose made SOS for me once. It was indeed better than the stuff from the freezer section. I should ask her to make it again sometime. ...
Hey, how about a "SOS Cook Off" contest some time? LOL.:D...
Note that the BG-42 in the pic is th "Golden Eye" (brass pivot). I think that was the last thing I used it for before I put it in the oddity/prized 110 display case.
SOS cook off ? why not ! we could do that the day after i win the chille cook off!:D:D:D
yes goose my friend i think i would put the golden eye away... it has seen its way in good, abet temporary, service pepping SOS!
it deserves the admiration's (and jealousy) of all that wish they had one!!! :p ;):D

Hi Mike...

I was just thinking about you the other day when I was reading the recent 112 threads.
Hope all is well my Magsaysay Drive Brother.
(for those that don't know, Magsaysay was the main street of bars outside of Subic Bay. As depicted in the opening scene from "An Officer and a Gentleman". I lived off base near there for 6 months and many here have spent an evening or two there too ;) http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1135315311030737448MhMuMq)

Love and Respect, Sir,
Goose.
Specialist, Buck Patrol 2007
Thanks for the memories Goose! You know, every large city in the Philippines has a Magsaysay Drive. In Davao City where my wife is from they have a Magsaysay park in the center of downtown. Just hearing the name brings back memories. :D

LOL...I guess that is like MLK Blvd here in the big cities.
Usually when I mention "Magsaysay Drive" to a squid, or in your case, an officer and a gentleman, that was in the 7th Fleet...it means Sheet River and Olongapo ;)

I saw my first Buck 119 at Camp Boton in the PI. Some Boy Scout had one and I coveted it.
Most of us others had Scout knives or those GI Jet Pilot knives from Camilus (it was very cool being a Navy Brat).

...By Nov 11 most people are wearing a poppy. Is this just done here or do you do something similar in the U.S.? ...
Wow, WTB, I recall that too as Decaf indicated. But I don't see that anymore. I knew there was a reason I like you guys up north :)

Decaf, this one's for you...my breakfast for today (New marketing slogan: "SOS...it's not just for Veterans anymore" :)):

This working nonsense has to stop, I have missed this whole thread the last few days.

Gooser, we are still vets bud, even if we didn't make it into the swamps or sandboxes. Any of us that survived Polk deserve to be called Vets based on that alone. :D I was there a good 10 years before ya. Should have thought and struck a match as I was leaving.

Ophen, I got curious about your handle here a while back and googled you. Impressive reading, and I joined one of the other forums you are subscribed to.

Stay as safe as you can on your upcoming deployment. Thanks for being there for us older n dirt folk.

Log in here as often as you can and let us know if there are any needs you may have.

I did stop by the VA memorial and cleared some grass from around brothers marker with my 179

I guess that is somewhat true...but I've never been in someone's sights (maybe an ex?)...but I understand what ya mean Larry.
The match would've been appreciated :D

Very humbling knowing what you did for your Brother's marker with your Hilo.

Love and Respect,
Goose.

Speaking of "SOS", this was the start of something good :)
