VFD and 110 3 phase motor chatter - please help!

How about a link to Chris's tuning video?

Yeah that would be cool I'm sure it would help others out. OP super glad you got it worked out, what did the main issue end up being? Which setting?

It's been good reading this, my grinder has always ran great except when stopping as it will alarm out. So I turned the breaking function off and it takes a while to stop. But reading that pay I can adjust the setting for how fast it slows it down. My vfd has all thoes trim pots as function in the control. Honing to head out there and see if I can tweak it a little

I ended up sending it back. $200 for shipping. So it looks like I have a $200 t-shirt.

All good though. Chris was super cool about the whole thing. Great guy!

Very if current is balanced in each phase , try the motor in reverse , if current is unbalanced note the unbalance them swap leads to see if the unbalanced current follows. If it follows its the supply.

Cheers

Don't forget to check the fan blades and fan start with that ... I have a few other things for you to check ... I'll watch the videos once I get to work

Well. I watched Chris' video on tuning the machine put on a 3m belt and it all started working perfectly. Like the stars aligned. I stayed out in the shop way to late because of that. Good problem to have.

I thought it was causing the major vibration at low speed without the belt on thereby leading you to think it was a motor or vfd issue... turns out it was just a belt tension/toe, or belt problem? why would it have done the same thing w/ out a belt on?

It is possible to see improvement with a belt on, as the motor will then be SLIGHTLY loaded, and what ever algorithms KB drives are programmed with, they seem to like a little bit of load on the motor at lower speeds.
