VFD for the KMG I'm getting

What motor are you getting? It is a very good VFD if it matches the motor - I have the KBPC 240D (for a 2hp DC motor, though). It's a great, solid, easy to set up and use VFD, IMO.

Hmmm...considering my VFD, this exact model, completely fried just last week (it's shipping back to KB tomorrow in hopes they fix it under warranty...they better!!) I was thinking of buying another...hmmmmm
I've only been using it since 04/2011, I don't know wtf happened to it. Went to use it, turned it on, 5 min later...poof! Blew my breaker and when I opened it up the circuit board was charred, black, and melted!
So...I figured I might buy another to avoid downtime and then put ithe old one on a variable disc grinder when it comes back!

Is there a fault in the motor that smoked the board, and will also smoke the new controller too?

I'd think about getting some sort of testing done.

Not sure...I talked it over with Rob at KMG, he didn't think it was the motor. Any idea how I would test that? Because yes, I would absolutely if I can figure out what to do or where to take it.

Thanks!

There are lots of motor repair shops that should know how to test a motor

I'm just thinking a burned out coil or something, resistance testing all the windings -

Sometimes even the smallest speck of metal that may have got inside the controller while adjusting the trimpots can arc and blowout the VFD.
