Does anyone know if you can use a VFD on a 220 VAC motor? I have a 2HP leeson that I want to get rid of pulleys on, and go variable. The VFD Beaumont sells is for 3 phase motors.

Thanks!

Hello Tom

All VFD's are meant to be connected to 3-phase motors and will not work with single-phase motors. If your motor is currently connected to a 110V or 240V supply in your house, it will most likely be a single-phase type.

Dang it, that is what I am finding out! Guess I will have to wait for a while and sell some more knives so I can buy a new motor and drive.

Tom,
Ebay can be your friend if you hit it right. I bought this 2hp 3 phase Baldor from an ebay seller for 50.00. He charged a very reasonable 35.00 shipping to get it from Rhode Island (I think it was Rhode Island) to Texas too. It was a little scratched up, but the seller felt it had never been used and after inspecting it, I agree. The thing was so clean and like new mechanically, that I just had to take the time so shoot a couple of coats of hammered finish grey paint on it to make it look like new too. Funny thing about it is that the auction had ended once without a single bidder and I got it on the re-list.

Grizzly had some 2hp 3ph TECF motors for around $110 and the shipping wasn't to bad. I got 2 of them and they where working great until they shut off my power after the fire. Jim

LOL, I bet I know what you misread. They think the fire was caused by a cord to a laptop computer. My shop stuff is all fine
