VFD Wiring Question

Hello all:

I am new to the forum, but have lurked for a long time.

I'm in the process of stepping up from files to -> cheapo 1 x 42 to -> to 2 x 72 grinder.

My VFD is a Nema 4x JNEV-202-H1FN4S Teco 2HP VFD.

This will be paired up with a Siemens 3 pole 3600 rpm 1.5 HP motor.

I'm using 12/2 wire with a double pole 20 amp breaker to a Nema 6-20 receptacle (240V) for the VFD Input power source.

I have a 10' Nema 6-20 12 ga power cord that I'm going to cut the female end off.

I know I could get away with 15 amp, but nema 6-20 stuff seems more available than 6-15.

From what I've read, do not need neutral, just (2) 120 V hot into VFD (hence Nema 6-20 selection)

Based on the note in the manual (L2 will be non-function for single phase units) and the jumpers from the L1 & L3 points coming from the switch....I'm thinking my hot wires should go to L1 & L3.

But the diagram is not 100% clear to me in the instruction manual.....

Anyone know for certain if the 2nd hot line should be in the L2 or L3 terminal?

Thanks ahead for any help. Pictures below.

Looks like for 120v, you want L1-hot and L3-neutral. A single phase 240v circuit has 2 hots running 180 degrees out of phase and requires no neutral and looks like it lands on L1 and L3

Thanks guys, appreciate the quick replies.

Hopefully I will get some time tomorrow to hook it up.

Will let you know how it works out.

Just wanted to update and say thanks guys. I wired everything up and it worked great.

Just needed to adjust VFD from 50 to 60 hz and I got the ~3500 output as verified by tachometer.

Motor ran very smooth uncoupled....

Now just need to pull the trigger on a grinder.

In case anyone else is looking, dealers electric website has Siemens 1.5 hp motors for $74 + shipping, which ran about $40 in my case.

This a beefy, cast iron motor, with grease fittings.

Seems like a great deal.

Thank again for the help.
