VG-10 vs. ZDP-189

Both have their own pluses and minuses. I'd say go for the ZDP version. #1 I like BRG over black!, #2 ZDP is fairly exotic and popular amoung steel junkies, #3 if you end up not liking the Stretch platform, it'll resell well. My 2 cents.

Either way, you'll end up with a great Spyderco.
 
If you're patient there's the super blue version coming out soon.
Very easy to sharpen and gets extremely sharp..
 
If you have the slightest problem with sharpening, go with vg-10.

VG-10 holds an edge well enough for most purposes.

The stretch is one of my favorite Spydercos. I have had it in both steels, VG10 and ZDP189. I wanted to like the carbon fiber/ZDP 189 version so bad, but became so frustrated with sharpening it that I eventually just sold it. My vote is VG-10.
