Hello

I have been in Spyderco Site to
see the composition of the VG10 of my Moran Spyderco.

I have found other knives (all made in Japan) with VG-10.

Any information about that steel ?
Aeronautical ? Medical ?

Thanx,

JM

This ones got me . I would call spydie and ask them the for the specs on it. Or check there site.. Theres a few fellows here that have a better insight on the specs than I do . CHIME IN PLEASE hahaha.. I stick to the basics..

Yes, Darrel,

If you can have any information.

VG-10 is not rare but allways made in Japan.

And congratulation for the cover !

JM

Elliot,

Thank you
I know that.
But unless we are all mettalurgist it's a little chinese.
SO. What is the purpose of that steel ?

JM

It looks like a good blade steel or stainless .. BUT as we have decussed before....... The blades made for manufacture are left at a lower rc for manufacuring process. It tears the hell out of gringing wheels in production
when the Rockwell is to hi. I cant say that Spydi leave them softer but with the test reports above there should be no problem holding an edge if the heat treat is proper.. ANY COMMENTS ON THIS>>> IVE HEARD THIS 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,122 TIMES..AT LAST COUNT on edge holding..hahahah

Thank you Darrel,

In fact the Moran is holding an outstanding edge.
I use it every day on hard chores, like chopping wood, bones, removing sentries...
(The handle grip is so confortable, I use it "very hard" without to mind about it...)

I am really impressed by the quality of the knife, even I could not manage yet to scratch the mirror finish.
