can some one show us what a finished blade looks like using a vibratory tumbler
thanks vern

This is CPM154 cooked to 60, sanded to 1000 and tumbled in ceramic with no grit, I think 12 hours. Pretty cool. Cloudy yet shiny. If I had added some loose 400 or 600 grit it would be more stonewashed (DRY!!!! grit and moisture turns to concrete in the bottom of the tumbler!). If you want to know what size and where I got my stuff from lemme know and I will post it. I recently found a lead on ceramic tumbling media that is 1.3mm in diameter to really get in the plunge.

Vibratory M/C
Trumbling M/C

All of these called mass Finishing.
You can expect that all of the items put into the M/C will come out the same.

Mass Finishing is noramlly to grind the parts with abrasives chip called Media.
There are variuos shape of the media and also in the media containning different abrasive type and sizes.

This is our product using Mass Finishing to final finish.

Unfortunately my tumbler took a dump on me about a month ago. I had a vibratory tumbler from Cabelas that has been flooded with saltwater from being in a flood zone a couple years back. However, one thing I did realize is that even the widest reloading tumbler will only tumble something the size of a paring knife or caper (you can tell from the pic). Anything bigger does not "go with the flow" so to speak. The widest tumbler I have seen is the CV2001 from dillon precision. That is like $180 or something like that. Anything bigger that I could find the price jumps up like you would not believe. Anyhow, the theory is you use different size media together cause it helps generate the flow of media from the vibration. I use 3/8", 5/32, and 1.3mm ceramic cylinders with angle cut edges, all together. When I get the funds I am gonna build a rotating tumbler for longer blades. Takes longer, but sure beats dropping $1500 for something that would still have size limitations (Anybody wanna tumble 1000 50BMG brass pieces at once?!). Ceramic media blasting is next on my list too.
