Vic blade-less models are out.

I just ordered the Companion and Companion Slim Alox in red. I really wish they would have included a nail file on the slim version as well. That would have been my ideal, non cadetx, carry to pair with another folder. They shipped today so hopefully I can post pictures soon.

If I knew for sure they'd make it through TSA screening, I would have already ordered the Slim Alox. Technically it should, but since it depends on the agent...

I'd also like to see a bladeless version of the Minichamp in alox or cellidor. Now that's one variant I could get behind.

I’m pretty “meh” about all of them. The only new release that was slightly interesting was the damast companion, but for some reason they put a small blade instead of a nail file on it.

Im pretty excited! This is a good start. I know im in the minority, but i need a can opener. The Companion without a blade and with a can opener would be perfect.

This is where I'm at it with it. One, I usually check a bag when traveling so carrying a knife generally isn't an issue for me, so I'm not the target market for these products. Secondly, the inclusion of scissors means that I wouldn't try to carry these anyway, because guaranteed there's going to be some TSA super agent who thinks he's one of the Avengers or something and helping "keep us safe" and when they see those scissors, it's getting confiscated immediately. I've run into a few of these at various airports who have tried to confiscate nail clippers, my wife's small nail-file, and so on. Hell, forget the scissors, as soon as an agent inspects the tool while in your small items bin, and feels the sharp edge on the box opener tool, that thing's going right in their confiscate pile and leaving in some TSA stooge's pocket.

Yep, happened to me with blade-less Gerber Dime. The new "elite operator" was claiming the tiny file with a dull tip was a dangerous weapon. Thankfully, the supervisor on duty overrode the agent and I got to keep it.

These are pass from me based on real TSA experience.

I like the idea of the Companion S / Alox Jetsetter just from a utility standpoint for keyring use because it should be really flat. I don't see it getting into security anywhere I normally have issues with knives because it still looks just like a regular knife, and the security guards around here aren't exactly independent thinkers.

I almost got the alox one but I came to conclusion that I don't need one. For me Classic SD is better "public friendly" option with actual blade, almost equal scissors and overall friendlier appaerance and ease of carry (summer shorts etc).
For carry-on baggage I'd rather take something like Fiskars foldable scissors that are not too expensive if they get confiscated.

If it ain’t got a blade, it ain’t a knife. I’ll pass, but a jet setter or someone in a hyper-PC office setting could probably could use one.

I’m all for variety, it’s the spice of life they say.

I can appreciate these new models for what they are, something to fill a need. Victorinox cannot guarantee these to pass checkpoints or laws but simply manufacturer and offer them. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine. Victorinox will continue to sell models with blades. I ordered the three in silver Alox and will appreciate them in my collection.

I have always thought of the Solo/Swiss Army 1 as an oddity. It’s labeled a SAK, but no tools, just a single blade. I love the Solo and it is one of my favorite models. I have never felt the need to complain or dispute its given label.

It has been fun reading everyone’s opinions here and elsewhere the last few days. Thankfully we all have plenty of ‘SAKs’ to choose from. 👍

Come on Victorinox, you can do it!

I'm thinking about getting a Companion Slim Alox in the next month or so. I have a few trips planned across the pond, so even though I check a bag I would prefer to only bring along something that I would really need.

I'm a big believer of behaving and minding my manners when I am a guest in someone's country, so if knives make people a little uncomfortable, then having something small that can do most of what I could possibly need to do without raising eyebrows, then that's fine.

Case in point, I'm going to Ireland in October. From what I have heard, it's generally expected for you to have a REALLY good reason to have anything sharp on your person. So a small tool set that can cut the tag off a new sweater or turn a screw isn't a bad thing to have just in case.

I doesn't take much to twist my arm into trying something new :D

Im not grabbing my knifed-up sak full of tools now, so I have zero need or desire for a model without a knife
"Dude, that's so knifed up..."
P.s. for all you, excited about a BLADELESS multitool tool, in BLADEforums...
Just stop..

I like the jetsetter because I don't carry the 58mm vics as a pocket knife.
I already have a small secondary blade on my pocket knives and don't carry the 58mm vics as a pocket knife.

Orrrr you could just not buy it and not worry about why someone might find a legitimate use for something🤷 People have mentioned like half a dozen reasons why they might want a set up like this.

One could wonder why a person who isn't grabbing a SAK (knifed up or not) is posting on the multitool forum. Just stop.. ;)
