Vic can opener semi fail.

For most cans, I think the Victorinox is the most efficient can opening tool. Once you learn how to use it, it's fast.
And there’s my problem. I haven’t really learned how to use it. I don’t eat canned food very often, and when I do, I reach for my Leatherman because it’s easier for me to use.

That's a good point! The key difference is that with the Vic, you move forward or rotate the can toward you. With the claw style, you move backward or rotate the can away from you. Maybe that helps?

Bottom line is, if your Leatherman does the job and you have it with you, you're golden!

So did I understand right that you are blaming Victorinox for the failer Wenger can opener?

No, I am saying that the Victorinox can opener on the Wenger SI didn't work near as good as the old P-38. The Wenger SI used the Victorinox design can opener, instead of the hook style cn opener like on the American scout knives and U.S. military M-L-K-818 issue scout knife. For the business of opening cans, its not as good a design as the Wenger civilian model can opener.

Ah okay. I never had problems with the Victorinox can openers. It could have been just faulty? Who knows... or very hard can!

No, not really, just the aluminum the sardine can was made from seemed unusual soft and just mushed and bent in when trying to open with the SAK can opener. I've opened cans of chili, baked beans, Campbell soups, Dinty Moore beef stew on camping trips with the Vic can opener, and never had a problem. The Chicken Of the Sea brand of sardines was a problem, but not for the P-38. Just a very weird instance.
