Vic Electrician

I bought one years ago, then gifted it very soon (sometimes when you see someone looking at your knife with interest, you need to seize the moment ;))
The sheepsfoot/combo tool layer of the Electrician is probably the best in all Victorinox knives.
I just wish I could pair it with the new scissors on the Pioneer X.
It would make the best 2 layer SAK in the world (to me).

I do not often carry a SAK, when I do it is almost always an Electrician. :)
Most interesting, Ron! :D

I agree with Fausto that an Electrician with scissors would be very desirable.
(I'd be willing to add a 3rd layer to get the scissors; I'd hate to give up the awl.)

I would rather have the nail file from the Cadet added to the Electrician, I use that one a lot. Always catching a nail at work, plus it works well as a pick.

Jeff, I think you and I have previously agreed on the "Cadetrician" as the ideal SAK. For me, put smaller version of the sheepsfoot (without the wire stripper notch) in place of the can opener on the Cadet. I do like the awl/punch on the bigger SAKs but usually when I need that, it's for specific tasks (meaning, I will go and get it when I need it) and not just general daily pocket carry.

Being slim and shiny I initially thought my electrician would become my gents knife, to be carried and used just on formal ocassions when I could not carry a larger folding knife.

I was wrong, it's now my most frequently used and carried SAK and its minimalistic setup covers most of what I need in a normal day. So the electrician is my main utility/user and my gents SAK is now a damascus Pioneer X.

John, I would go with your suggestion, completely. I'll take it in 7 different colors, one for each day of the week. :D

I like the electrician but usually use the alox Soldier instead. It's my most commonly used knife.

Since we are talking about changes to the pattern... My ideal would be putting the electrician blade in place of the awl. That would be PERFECTION!! :) I rarely have a need for an awl. The electrician blade will fit opposite the spear blade since the Pioneer Apprentice has that arrangement. I like the can opener for use as a Phillips and small flat head screwdriver.

Thanks for the response! Mine came in Friday Afternoon and I like it. Sharpened it up and put it my pocket.
I took it Saturday fall turkey hunting and used it to make a makeshift blind and trim a shooting lane,(the turkey won).

My wife and I went bluegill fishing today and it came in handy. It did well cleaning the fish, but I did use a Case large stockman on the bigger ones.

Nice slim carry with just the right tools. It is a keeper

I gave my electrician to a buddy and replaced it with the pioneer harvester (I believe that's what it's called). Same knife, but a pruner blade instead of the sheepsfoot. Those are the only two SAKs I've had much use for though. I don't see why anyone ever needs a can opener on a knife.

The Electrician is a great knife. With the large spear, sheepsfoot, punch, cap lifter, I always viewed it as the love child of a scout and a stockman, gaining my favorite features from each. Spey blade? Meh. Can opener? P-38. 2D phillips driver? Looky here, I have a Classic SD on my keys all the time. Mine's buried in a box in the garage, but I'm thinking I need to dig it out for some lovin'.

I have a Wenger SI where I've used the can opener both at home and on the road for more years than I can count without the knife developing any problems. Yet, I've bought and thrown out many can openers at home. The Wenger can opener is built to last. YMMV

I never thought of it that way, but that is a perfect description of the electrician! Mine has not left my pocket since I got it.
Mine will be with me next week at deer camp along with my Case stockman.

I need the can opener on my Farmer every time one of the crappy can openers that inhabit my kitchen fails to do the job.

The extra blade/wire stripper on the electrician seems like it would be very useful. I just wish the standard electrician came with the keychain.... I can't justify spending twice as much to get an electrician with a keychain loop. Uhhh..... I guess I will just have to stick with my Pioneer.
