It seems that no matter what slipjoint I buy (Buck 303, Buck 301, Schrade Old Timers, ect), I keep returning to the aluminum handle Victorinox knives.
I constantly change pocketknives, but the Victorinox Cadet, the Electrician, and the Pioneer are the ones that always find there way back into my pockets.

Who else prefers these to other slipjoints?

Good luck,
Allen.

My EDC is a Victorinox cadet and a small Sebenza. The cadet handles the small stuff and provides some tools while the Sebenza handles the more difficult tasks that require a heavier blade.

Thanks!
Scott

Allen, I too like the Alox handle and I always have the soldier model in my bag. If you go to www.swiss-knife.com you will find several models of the Alox handle knives that are not sold in the U.S. I have order several knives from swiss-knife and I highly recommend them.

Funny but now that you mention it with all the nice stuff I have stolen from Gus :D there are few times when a SAK is not within arm's reach.
Thanks for the link GW!

Ive always liked the alox pioneer and soldier models, I like the looks and feel of the scales.

I never go anywhere without my Victorinox SAK soldier. I rotate a lot of other knives thru other pockets but I always have the soldier in my right front pocket.

I love my Soldier!
But I can't help thinking that I'd carry it a lot more if it had scissors, toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring for my Photon Light.
Who else thinks the Alox handles SAK's need 1 or 2 more tools?

Absolutely. I have to have tweezers (gross, I know, but when you like to hike deep in the woods and have a dog, you do spend some time picking ticks off :barf: ). And I'd much prefer a pen blade to the awl that's on most of the alox models. In fact, as much as I appreciate the ruggedness and durability of the alox models like the Soldier, etc., I ALWAYS come back to the standard Spartan as my basic standby. Even with the "weaker" plastic handles, these last years and, at that price, I just don't mind replacing them when need be. I'd rather pay more (over the long haul) by having to replace a knife and get all the tools I need, than carry a knife that will outlive me but doesn't have a pen blade, tweezers, or that little corkscrew screwdriver, all of which I use frequently.

IMO the Electrician is the perfect combination of cutting edges and tools in a compact slip joint, far and away my favorite traditional folder.

The two blade (large and pen) model Pioneer has replaced my small Sebenza as my EDC. Now I gotta get one with a saw.

I had an electrician that I loved. But I lost it years ago. I just cheked out the sight that gray_wolf posted. I just ordered the Pioneer with the electricians blade and the saw blade. I actually ordered 3 of them. I can't wait. I never knew that these were made. Thanks gray_wolf for the link.

They're here. They got here yesterday. Just like my electrician but w/ the Victorinox logo and a saw blade. I forgot how much I liked my alox Swiss Army knife. Now there are extras in case I lose it.:)

I have the wenger made edition of the soldier, but I just ordered the soldier in the victorinox version pretty cheap from www.swissarmyexpress.com. they have some x-mas specials going on right now. I bought three of the soldiers delivered for $53.50!!! not bad!!!

Thats a great price. I recently bought a Victorinox Soldier at Target for a little over $20.00. I know I can get knives cheaper on-line but I just have to handle the knife before buying.

Today I have a Benchmade 555 in one pocket and a Victorinox Cadet in the other pocket.

Good luck,
Allen.

I love my Soldier. I have had it for several years and it has never disappointed me. The pattern on the handle provides good purchase when I am holding the blade.

I use to have one of the old vic. soldiers that had the rivet in the handle hollowed out for a lanyard. I was quite sad to find out they dont do that anymore. Ive alwayws liked the wenger because of the lanyard bail. The old vic was ok with the hole in the rivet, but now that they put a solid rivet in there it doesnt make much sense.

I've had a Cadet on my keys for a month now. Great little knife; it's thin and light.
