Victorinox Bantam blade rap?

Just unsealed 3 new knives. A Cadet, Walker and a Swiss Army 7. They all have marks. The Walker has 3! The Cadet and 7 just have one clean mark. The Cadet has a tip mark and the 7 doesn’t make contact at the very tip, but about 1/8”-1/4” away toward the curve.

I specifically bought the bantam rather than a bottle opener because I do use the blade.

Turns out I didn't quite sharpen it out enough, but I took probably years of metal off so I'm leaving it as-is. Less contact is still an improvement, don't have to close it quite as carefully.

Lots of good anecdotes in this thread. I emailed Victorinox with pictures before I made the thread and asked if it was considered a QC flaw, got a generic response asking me to send it in. Glad I didn't spend the $5 plus shipping lol

I’m pretty sure they could change the design of the spacers slightly to allow for more room and solve the problem for most people. I don’t think I see that in the cards though.

If it helps, just consider it an idiosyncrasy of an otherwise great tool.
