Victorinox Bantam on the way, WOOHOO!

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm minutes away from ordering a Bantam. I just don't know whether to order the plastic or Alox version. I understand that you loose the tweezers/toothpick with the Alox, but I love the look of it and I just purchased an Alox Cadet.

I don't have one... but I know the Alox scales are very thin. Making the Alox bantam quite a slim package, which feels nice in pocket. Me, I've learned to appreciate a grip that at least attempts to fill the hands. Of course, you have the added strength and durability of Alox scales to consider.

Alox Bantams are getting hard to find anywhere other than the auction website. Great knife for sure. The regular version is easy to find.

Here is a video I made about my Bantam:

Great video!!! I learned something new!!!

Dogstar, you are "Sirius" about your SAKs!  :D

The Bantam is a good one. It seems a tad large for a key chain, but I purchased one to carry with a traditional in order to keep the toothpick and tweezers which I find to be immensely useful on a daily basis. The Alox versions are nice, but you loose the toothpick and tweezers. I bought a alox classic before the Bantam forgetting that I lost some tools.... gave the knife to my wife which she keeps in her bag.

The good old red handled Bantam was my primary EDC for over 10 years, 8 of which I was working in a warehouse environment. It did everything I asked from it and still snaps into place like it was new. I don't have the Alox version, but have the red and the black nylons. It's about the same size as an Alox cadet but retains the scale tools. I know this thread is old but for anybody considering the Bantam...do it!

I love the bantam, and even when carrying one of my trusted tradionals, I may have a bantam in another pocket just because. It's a wonder of minimalist SAK carry.

That Bantam looks big beside that peanut. I expressly picked up the Bantam to carry with my GEC #42 in order to keep a few basic SAK tools available and in a slim package.

LOL, but I guess after so many years of carrying a peanut and a classic as my edc pocket knives, I've come to think of the bantam as my "big" knife!:D

But it does pack an amazing amount of utility in a very light weight slim package.

The fact of the matter is that I want more knife than a Bantam a lot of the time. My problem is that I can't park the Vic Adventurer, so everything else just gets added whether it be the GEC two bladed #42, another GEC or a recent carry the Cold Steel Tuff Lite. I really intended to carry the Bantam but I didn't realize just how entrenched I am in my EDC choices. I want to keep an open mind, but it seems kind of closed at times.

I would have preferred getting the black over the red, but couldn't find it anywhere. I assumed they stopped making the Bantam in black.

Here is some good Swiss music to go with our SAKs. The band is Oesch's die Dritten, a family from Bernese Oberland. What kind of knives are they using at 0:15? It's low resolution so it's hard to tell:

My cellidor Bantam arrived the other day and my Alox version today. Wow, I thought the celidor version was thin, but the Alox version is indescribably thin. The cellidor version feels better in my hand, not mention it has the other (2) liner tools.
