Victorinox Classic

But as much as I like the classic, I am wondering how you sliced bagals and cheese? With only an inch and a half of blade, I end up using my soldier or tinker for those kind of duties.
Thanks mnblade for the excellent description of how to de-animate a bagel with a 1.5" blade. I concur that the time-tested "perimeter rotatation turn-n-cut" is a effective tactical approach to bagel prep. :)

With cheese, most 8oz, 12oz, or 16oz blocks are less than 1.5" thick. With a 2lb block, you can either make a cut in from both sides, or just cut cubes -- the slice doesn't need to go all the way across the block.

Ramblers are great, I found one my dad got from Dow chemical corp. when he worked there. I'd love to order a bunch for myself since I never let myself damage his gift knife. I've only carried it a few times to see how much I'd use a classic.

Turns out a classic would fit me just fine with most my cutting needs. Last night it cut down a pizza box to make it fit in the trash easier and popped the pizza out of its plastic wrap. Saved my belly that night. :D

I think my EDC will be a classic in my small front right pocket and a larger SAK next to my wallet in the back. I'd probably be leaving the large SAK at home or in the car a lot too. All my nice folders are getting jealous of the pocket time they don't receive these days, pocket time stolen by a 5$ SAK. :P

the 58mm models I own are:
rambler
rally
classic sd
bijou ( no key ring)

I slip one of the models ( depending on mood) in my pocket first thing every morning so I don't feel nekked. They cut twine, open letters, open cat chow bags, open imported beer bottles, turn small screws etc. Heck, I even took my rambler trout fishing. The scissors cuts the end off mono lines quite nicely.
The classic is the knife I see most often in public. Most people don't even consider it to be a knife. Big plus. Also, you can get the classic model really cheap. My mom gave me a classic that she got as a door prize. E-bay sellers sell several at a time. You can probably get one at a yard sale if you are lucky. They just gotta be the best value out there.

bought one at target myself this weekend and love it.had them on sell for 7.84 cent but when i got to the register it rang up regular price.she asked me(being lazy as normal) how much it was after i said it was on sell so i told her 4 dollars.what a steal.been using it for two days and will be in my front pocket along with my vic huntsman light also.my champ has been getting jealous here lately also from no use at all:)

My first ever EDC was a Classic. It was a corporate branded gift knife from a firm my grandfather worked for. My father presented one each to my sister and I when we were children. I carried mine in a pouch on my belt every single day for three years. They were great, even ten year old farm kids couldn't destroy it. Back then it seemed like it could cut anything and everything, we sure did try anyway.

I started using them again and I love them.I'm going to collect all the colours now!
