So I was bored earlier today and I started watching my MacGyver DVD's. I chose to watch one of my favorite episodes, "The Heist" and I realized that in that episode, MacGyver used a Vic Executive. Also when I watched another good episode, "The Last Stand," I realized that MacGyver also used a Vic Executive there as a back-up knife (he had to give up his bigger swiss knife when the hostage takers searched him... but then he used a Vic Executive later on... so I'm thinking that it's a back-up... anywaaay...) Then I decided to check the list of MacGyver used swiss knives per episode and it turns out, he used the Vic Executive for a total of 7 episodes (good enough :P). Sooooo... the only logical thing to do next is to get a Vic Executive for myself. :D Hehe.

Also, I wanted to try something bigger than my Rambler/Classic/Escort but smaller than my Super Tinker/Tinker/Tinker Small.

But before I do, I'd like to get feedbacks from people here who own or have used Victorinox Executives.

So... how did you guys like it?

Cheers. :D

I've carried an executive for years and I love it. Very handy in an urban environment. Ido prefer a Huntsman when I'm in the woods.
Chuck Yeager favored an Executive as his knife of choice even on his backpack trips into the mountains.

The Executive is definitely in my top five SAKs of any type and probably my #1 non-Alox SAK for daily carry. For outdoors/country/DIY days I prefer something like the Camper or the Ranger.

I bought a lot of two black Executives off of eBay. NTSA seizures, I believe. It's a classy knife, very light weight, and very practical.

Today I'm rocking my Executive, along with an Explorer and a Spyderco Sage 1.

The Executive is one knife I EDC daily. Really! I have a little mint drop tin, which I carry as a little first aid kit. In there fits an Executive. It´s also thought as being used as an ultimate Backup knife. I really like that one!

Kind regards

Nice pics moe,

I'm thinking of getting a black scaled one myself. Although knowing me, I'll probably get a red cellidor one coz im just a sucker for the traditional looking ones.

Btw, you carry your executive without a keyring? :)

If Victorinox would replace that dark orange peeler with a combo tool or something useful, I'd carry one. But as it is, it just falls into some sort of purgatory.

The feature that I like most on the Executive is the real nail file. It is not the sandpaper type but has cut teeth. It only cuts in one direction, but it actually cuts.

I bought a lot of two Executives (TSA seizures) off eBay and one of them (the one in the pic) came without a split ring on it. If I decide to put a lanyard on it (possible), I'll steal one from another Vic I have. I like the black scales on the Executive, but that's me.

BTW, that Executive in the pic also came with some patina/rust on the blades, but it cleaned up nicely with some metal polish. I have it sharpened shaving sharp too. I sort of like rehabilitating used Vics!

Aw, man, I like the orange peeler. I've sharpened mine quite sharp and it makes a good letter opener or even light use box cutter.

The Executive is one of my favourites too. One is in my first aid kit and an other one is in my EDC rotation. They're great in an urban environment and at the office.

I have a smoth alox one with theese tools exept pliers and tothpick. I have cut of the tip of the nailfile to make it a broad screwdriver and also reworked the orange peeler on my grindingwheel to an electrical, eyeglass screwdriver. Like it a lot but uses it less than expected. I often do more traditional choises.

The Executive is one of my favorite SAK's. I probably have about 10 of them in my collection. I've been carrying one almost everyday since about 1990.

The executive is my Sunday go to meetin knife. I like the slightly larger blade and scissors over the classic and the Orange Peeler is useful for breakfast or snacks. So many dis-like this knife because it has no combo tool or bottle opener but this knife was made for a different type of carry, that is why it is called the "Executive".

Now who here would expect to see some suit wearing dude flip out his pocket knife to pop off a bottle top? I would expect him to be seated at a table and being served wine or some other drink that is being poured for him, and a can opener? Come on!

I agree with DFWCowboy. The Executive is a great "gentleman's folder." It doesn't have fancy bone scales or anything, but it's classy, non-intimidating, and functional. Lack of a bottle opener is not a big deal to me. If you drink micro-brews more than me, perhaps it's not for you. But for many of us, it's a winner. I also like that it's big enough to be functional and comfortable but not too big to wear in nice dress pants (i.e. no bulges).

It is a good knife. I view the peeler more as a serrated blade than an orange peeler. It's another option against boxes too. The true nail file is nice, and the option for a large and a small blade is an added bonus. The one thing I wish it did have is an SD tip on the file (a la the Classic) rather than the peeler. I just think it's a poor product design decision to include a driver on something sharp and risk the possibility on the tool folding.

Cap lifter? Combo tool? Sure, they are nice in a pinch, but there is always an alternative bottle opener nearby, or another method of opening a bottle.

I can open a bottle cap really quickly with a screwdriver (i.e. orange peeler) so it's not like I'd have to go thirsty if all I had was The Executive on me. It's a little less elegant of a solution, but it's a solution.

I've been carrying my Executive for many years now, probably since 1999. It's my most-consistently carried knife; no matter what other knife(s) or tool is on me, the Executive is in my RF pocket, so long as it's somewhere a knife can be legally carried. Its black scales are all scarred up from EDC, but it works as good as day one. I have used every tool on it, except the key ring, and find some use for it every day.

The Executive is possibly the most underrated Vic SAK, IMO. To me, it's the perfect size for EDC. And while I like the Classic and Rambler, I find them less comfortable/slightly awkward to use in comparison to the Executive. IMO, it's the perfect penknife.
