Happy New year All!
What is the Farmer model like for pocket carry? I have a Soldier model but was wondering if the Farmer was comfortable for pocket carry as I dont wear a pouch... Thanks in advance

It's thinner than a Super Tinker, and not that all that heavy. I've spent some time with a Farmer in my pocket and didnt mind it at all.

I have never carried the farmer, but have carried a pioneer for many years in my pocket no problem

I suspend both of them vertically in pocket with a small suspension clip (Tec P7). They’re too big for me otherwise.

It's about the size just 3mm thicker...which would bother me ... As I wear dress pants m-f.

While I carry mine on a suspension clip also I have pocket carried it often enough to know it's not a problem in jeans. It's about the same thickness as a Spartan or Tinker.

I use to carry mine dummycorded in my left front pocket. Replaced it with a Alox Lumberjack on a Munroe dangler clip.

I'vecarried an Alox Farmer nearly everyday along with a modern folder clipped in my other front pocker ... the Farmer is my favorite SAK and doesn't seem noticable either in my left front pocket or back pocket ... or if wearing carhartt bibs they fit nicely in the chest pocket ... and is a great model for my uses.

If you can find one, an Electrician Plus is a Farmer with a sheepfoot instead of the can opener and no lanyard ring. One of my favorites. The Electrician is one layer less with no saw.--KV

I like my Farmer, but find it too big a lump for pocket carry. I prefer to carry the 2-row Electrician, in part for its sheepsfoot, unless I am in the woods or working in the yard, where The saw comes in handy.

I have tried three layer SAKs and I don't care for them for pocket carry. I carry a two-layer myself and have for years. The three layer One Hand Trekker (which is 111mm) gets placed in my day pack or whatever bag I am carrying if I want the saw blade. I do at times, hiking especially. The saw blade is very handy for making a nice straight cut on a walking stick you cut out in the woods.

My Farmer has seen a lot of use, never been a problem to carry.

I can tolerate a pretty big SAK in the pocket as long as it's kept vertically w/ a P7 suspension clip or similar. I hate the feeling of a SAK or traditional sitting sideways across my pocket. The farmer won't feel too thick or heavy.

Looking to add the saw huh? Whether you’ll like it or not will come down to what you like in your pockets. It’s just marginally thicker than the soldier so it should be fine.

I will say that I’ve owned both the soldier and the farmer and I eventually settled on the electrician. After a while I realized I’ve never used the saw or the can opener so I went for the thinner one with more blade. Also ditched the lanyard abomination.

If you’re just carrying the sak as your only knife in the woods then maybe take the model with the saw. IME the little saw just isn’t that useful. I’d rather have the electrician in my pocket and a silky saw in my pack but then again I only see a need for a saw in bad weather/winter and in those instances, I want something better.
