All,

Some of you have done modification on the SAK handle and it was mentioned several time that the normal model with the Vic's shield logo can have the logo re-used for the modified handle (wood, G10, etc.)

How actually do you remove the logo without ruining it? I assume it's quite thin and might get screwed up quite easily.

I heat up the plastic scale under hot running water, then gently push it out from the back side with a flat end punch that is sized to just fit the access hole. Some people with use a hair dryer or hot air gun to heat up the scale.

The back side hole is used for heating the scale at Vic factory assembly, it is pressed into the plastic scale with pressure when hot.

Thanks!

Removing it hot .. ah that's good idea. It'll prevent breaking of the attachment point I guess?

After that, how do you remove the shield logo from the plastic? I believe some modder has done that .. but don't state how ..

The simplist way is to pour a little fingernail polish remover on a tissue and hold on the symbol for about 5 seconds. Push through the hole, from the back side of the scale. Very simple!
When reinstalling, hold down on the symbol with a toothpick or similar implement. Pour superglue over top. Use care not to glue the toothpick down. This is the only way that I have found to get the symbol installed straight on the scale.

Man this is an old thread but...

Would heating up the scale and then pressing in the shield into its original position work? I am trying to avoid using any type of glue, unless i absoultly have to.

Would a hairdryer work, heat gun, or go bigger?
